Day three of a cold aggravated by another humdinger migraine yesterday. I don't like calling them headaches 'cause that's just a bit misleading. A full-on total body nerve storm is more like it. And just when I'm flailing about, out of sorts, feeling miserable and still somehow feeling responsible for these attacks (it must something I'm doing or not doing enough, I punish myself), I check my email and get a notice from Mediclim that this is the time where I'm most likely to get a migraine.
I don't know if you have any weather aggravated conditions, but if you do, I highly recommend Mediclim. It is a wonderful website that collects meteorological data and, through research on the correlation between different weather patterns and health conditions, lets you know when health conditions like migraine, heart disease, asthma, arthritis, diabetes and C.O.P.D. are most likely to be triggered.
Now Mediclim doesn't prevent my migraines, but a forewarning can mean I drink more water, stay at home, avoid stress, cheese and red wine. Having proof of the connection between migraines and the weather also helps to alleviate this crazy guilt I have about getting them in the first place.
Happily today was much better after the write-off that was yesterday. I weeded the balcony pots, did laundry and made a kick-ass lemon-tarragon chicken soup that so perfectly hit the spot, post headache and cold. I love just being at home, puttering about, or heading out in the neighbourhood to the farmers market, to the library, or for walks along the river. It's like the neighbourhood is a DIY health spa. Lucky me.
